We're getting into the back half of the fantasy football regular season here, and we're back to give you a couple of players to push into your starting lineup or move to your bench, along with a sleeper.
Now, you're not going to find "start Adrian Peterson" here. If you drafted a player in the first five rounds, chances are those are your go-to players, so we'll try to give you some less-than-obvious choices to bolster your lineup every week.
On that note, here we go for Week 10:
Start ‘em
Josh McCown, Chicago Bears quarterback vs. Detroit
If you own Aaron Rodgers, or a signal caller on bye like Tom Brady, McCown is the safer one-week pickup than other options out there. He’s had nearly two full games of action under his belt, throwing for nearly 500 yards and three scores. Clearly, the Bears are not scaling down the offense for the backup. And, both games were on the road. Detroit, though coming off a bye, has allowed at least two touchdowns and 270 yards through the air in four of its last five games.
Mike James, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back vs. Miami
For some reason, James has been able to do the last two weeks what Doug Martin wasn’t able to do the first part of the season – produce fantasy numbers. Against stout Carolina and Seattle defenses the last two weeks, James has rushed for 197 yards on 38 carries while catching six passes on seven targets for another 33 yards. Oh, and Miami gives up the most fantasy points to running backs in Yahoo! leagues.
Sit ‘em
Case Keenum, Houston Texans quarterback vs. Arizona
Don’t reach for Keenum as a stop-gap for an injured QB or one on bye. True, he lit up Indianapolis on Sunday night, but all of his touchdowns went to Andre Johnson, and you better believe Johnson will be shadowed by one of the best cover men in the league in Patrick Peterson. The Cardinals have a decent defense, and they will force Keenum to make reads.
Trent Richardson, Indianapolis Colts running back vs. St. Louis
Richardson has been a bust for two teams now, and he has not produced since arriving in Indianapolis. He may get you a short yardage touchdown, but he’s not the RB1 many figured him to be at the start of the season. Richardson is averaging only 3.0 yards per carry with the Colts, down from the 3.4 mark he had in Cleveland. He’s also caught fewer passes in his six games in Indy than the two he played in Cleveland. Until he proves otherwise, T-Rich might be a sits for the rest of the year.
Sleeper pick
Philadelphia Eagles defense vs. Green Bay
Since getting blown out in week 5 against Denver, the Eagles have allowed 21 points or fewer in each week since. Packers backup quarterback Seneca Wallace throws an interception on 2.4 percent of his total pass attempts and he was sacked four times by a putrid Chicago Bears pass rush. While the Eagles will be gouged by Eddie Lacy and James Starks in the run game, this won’t be the same high scoring Packers offense. And, as a bonus, the Packers kick coverage units are decimated, so the Eagles may get a return score as well.
