Hotel Metro, 411 E. Mason St., is in line for a facelift, according to information gleaned today from various sources.
One of Milwaukee’s unique boutique hotels, Hotel Metro is located in the former John Mariner Building, which was built in 1937 and reconstructed in 1998. It’s listed among properties on the Historic Register.
According to a representative from Hotel Metro, the hotel has entered a management/consulting contract with Oklahoma City-based Coury Hospitality to facilitate a refresh of the hotel in preparation for consideration as one of Marriott’s Autograph hotels, a curated collection of boutique hotels run by the national hotel.
Guest rooms are on the docket to be revamped, as well as the lobby, rooftop and restaurant, Pastiche at the Metro. Ogden & Company has been enlisted to take charge of the project. They issued a construction bid for the project, which was published in the Daily Reporter. Representatives from Ogden were unavailable for comment.
According to Rachael Carr of Pastiche at the Metro, the restaurant has been assured that it will remain in the hotel. Currently, Pastiche is in their second year of a five-year lease, with the option to renew.
"The aesthetic of the restaurant could change as part of this project," notes Carr, "but we’ll be dedicated to keeping the quality of our food and service high. We’re excited about the project, which will bring a new look and feel to our space."
