Clean Wisconsin, the state’s oldest environmental organization, will host its gala fundraiser, Epicurean Evening Milwaukee, on Thursday, June 16.

Held at Discovery World overlooking Lake Michigan, Epicurean Evening Milwaukee will feature three critically acclaimed Milwaukee chefs preparing a multi-course dinner. The event will include a cocktail hour with drinks created by local mixologists, a wine pull and a live auction. Proceeds from the event support Clean Wisconsin’s work preserving and protecting the state’s clean water, air and natural heritage.

"We are extremely excited to bring this event to the shores of Lake Michigan," says Mark Redsten, president and CEO of Clean Wisconsin. "These chefs care deeply for Wisconsin and our environment, and we are fortunate to bring them together for a night of great food to bring awareness to Clean Wisconsin’s work in Milwaukee and across the state."

Headlining the event are 2008 James Beard Foundation Best Chef: Midwest winner Adam Siegel of Lake Park Bistro, Cole Ersel of Wolf Peach and 2015 James Beard Foundation Best Chef: Midwest finalist Justin Carlisle of Ardent. Inspired to pursue their craft with environmental sustainability in mind, the chefs see Epicurean Evening Milwaukee as an opportunity to showcase their talents while making a collective statement for sustainable agriculture and the local food movement.

"As a Wisconsin chef, a clean Wisconsin matters to me because without a healthy environment, the food I cook and serve would not be healthy," says Siegel, of Lake Park Bistro. "A clean Wisconsin is what we should all strive for."

Adds Ardent's Carlisle: "As a chef who takes care and pride in the state and region where I have grown up and will raise my family, I care deeply about a clean Wisconsin. And Clean Wisconsin helps provide a better environment for everything that touches our lives in this wonderful state."

A statewide organization, Clean Wisconsin works throughout Wisconsin to protect the state’s drinking water and waterways from overuse and contamination. In Southeast Wisconsin, Clean Wisconsin has been working with neighbors and businesses in Milwaukee’s 30th Street Industrial Corridor since spring 2014, helping to install rain gardens and rain barrels to prevent flooding and basement backups and improve the waterways that flow into Lake Michigan. Recently, the organization was tapped to partner with area groups to develop a community garden in Cold Spring Park on the city’s near west side. The organization has also been a longtime proponent of the Great Lakes and protecting Lake Michigan.
