What is the closest thing to work-sponsored hooky for Downtown employees?

It is the "2015 Downtown Employee Appreciation Week"!

Each day this coming week features free food and fun games for the hardworking people of Downtown Milwaukee. OnMilwaukee.com has the day by day rundown of the week's big events.

Monday: Enjoy a lunch option of brat sliders, mini Cousins subs and iced coffee at Red Arrow Park. Then head to Bradford Beach at quitting time to join in on a beach volleyball tournament with your office team.

Tuesday: Jump-start the work day with the "World’s Largest Coffee Break". Local coffee shops will supply a tasty morning brew for downtown employees at Catalano Square.

For lunch, head to Pere Marquette Park where Pita Pit and Joey Bueno’s will team up to provide mini pita pockets and cannoli cups.

The Beach Volleyball Tournament wraps up and decides a championship tonight after work.

Wednesday:  The lunch selection features sliders, beer cheese nuggets and ice cream cups at Schlitz Park Stock-House Driveway (1543 N. Second Street). Fun games and activities will be open to employees as well!

At 5 p.m., a kickball tournament at the MSOE athletic field will cap off Tuesday’s fun!

Thursday: Refuge Smoothie brings wraps and Noodles & Company brings the noodle bowls to Zielder Union Park for lunch.

After work, there is "Downtown’s Grandest Happy Hour" at 5 p.m. and shopping throughout The Shops of Grand Avenue.

For the non drinkers or before you have a few, there is a 5k fun run at Pere Marquette Park at 6 p.m.

Friday: To wrap the week off, there is an awards ceremony at Cathedral Square Park. Mochas, gelato, cookies, oranges, and noodle bowls will all be available for lunch.

Finally, a happy hour boat cruise down the Milwaukee River at 6 p.m. will cap the festivities off for the week.

Where: Events will be scattered throughout downtown parks.

Hours: Times vary for different events, but lunch options will be available at every day at noon.

Admission: Free!

Highlights: Get a group from your office together and try the happy hour boat cruise or one of the tournaments this week!
