At OnMilwaukee, we believe in lifting up all voices and using our platform to support others’ dreams. And that's what we hope to do for Dominic the Food Reviewer. When I first met Dominic almost two years ago, I was impressed by his passion, his curiosity and his interest in improving his writing. Over time, I’ve not only enjoyed getting to know him better, but he has taught me as much as I have him. My hope is that you’ll not only enjoy reading Dominic’s reviews, but also glean understanding and joy from seeing the world of food through his eyes. -- Lori Fredrich, Dining Editor
Recently, I visited Nutri Blend. It is located at 6570 S. Lovers Lane Rd. in Franklin. They’re known for their healthy smoothies, bowls and boba drinks.
I had the honor to meet the owner, Cory Wunrow. He started Nutri Blend in March of 2022.
Cory grew up in the Milwaukee area, and has worked in the fitness industry since he was twenty years old. His passion for personal training helped a client lose 110 pounds in 90 days through healthy eating and exercise. That made him realize the importance of healthy nutrition and how it can make a positive difference in people’s lives. While managing several different fitness clubs he noticed that healthy diets and nutrition were lacking. This gave him the idea to come up a with a business that makes nutritious smoothies and bowls for people on the go.
Inside Nutri Blend, they have a cool wall with green grass and their logo on it. It is very clean inside and there’s plenty of seating if you’d like to sit and enjoy your smoothie or bowl there. Instead of using plastic lids on their cups, they have a machine that seals the top of your cup with plastic so if you drip your cup the smoothie won’t spill all over the floor. I thought was really neat.
Nutri Blend offers so many different smoothies and bowl options. They have their signature and power blends as well as the option to create your own smoothie just the way you like it. There are so many different types of fruits, proteins, and add ins to make your smoothie or bowl flavorful. All the ingredients are fresh and high quality. It’s all real fruit and no syrups or anything fake. They have vegan and dairy free options and a fun secret menu that you can check out by using your phone to scan a QR code at the end of the counter.
While I was there I sampled the Popeye’s Punch which had banana, pineapple, mango, spinach, dates and vanilla whey. Then I had the Island Blue with pineapple, banana, Greek yogurt and vanilla whey. I also tried the Tropical Berry smoothie with pineapple, mango and strawberries. They were all super tasty and refreshing. I loved them all so much, and couldn’t wait to try more.
I also had the chance to make my very own bowl with Cory. We named it the "Dominic the Food Reviewer Super Thumbs Up Bowl". It includes blended mangos, bananas, blueberries, peanut butter and vanilla whey protein topped with granola, sliced strawberries and honey. I had so much fun coming up with my own bowl and it tasted amazing. If you go to Nutri Blend my bowl is on the secret menu. Give it a try for sure.
I would highly recommend checking out Nutri Blend because the smoothies and bowls are a quick and easy way to get nutritious food and Cory and his staff are so friendly and helpful. You won’t be disappointed. I wish this place had locations all over Milwaukee. I absolutely loved it here. Don’t miss this one.
