At OnMilwaukee, we believe in lifting up all voices and using our platform to support others’ dreams. And that's what we hope to do for Dominic the Food Reviewer. When I first met Dominic almost two years ago, I was impressed by his passion, his curiosity and his interest in improving his writing. Over time, I’ve not only enjoyed getting to know him better, but he has taught me as much as I have him. My hope is that you’ll not only enjoy reading Dominic’s reviews, but also glean understanding and joy from seeing the world of food through his eyes. -- Lori Fredrich, Dining Editor
This weekend I got to check out the Delafield Brewhaus at 3832 Hillside Dr. in Delafield.
The Delafield Brewhaus opened in May 1999 and was one of the first breweries to open in the Lake Country area. The owner wanted to create a space that was family friendly.
The brewery is a very large space with lots of seating on the main floor as well as the upstairs area overlooking the whole restaurant and brewery. They have a room that looks like a giant beer barrel called the Stammtisch, which is the German name for meeting or gathering around a table. There are two bars in the restaurant as well as an outdoor space with a beer garden. The entire restaurant is beer themed with lots of beers signs and memorabilia.
For dinner I had their Full Haus Original BBQ Pork Ribs. The ribs were nice and tender and the BBQ sauce had a sweet and smoky flavor.
For my two sides I had their sour cream and chive mashed potatoes and green beans. Definitely order the mashed potatoes. They were so rich and creamy. The green beans were very fresh.
If you’re in the Lake Country area I would highly suggest trying the Delafield Brewhaus. They have a lot of space for large groups. Their menu has so much to offer from pizza to pub sandwiches to fish fry and much more. They have a large beer selection as well.
