Dinosaurs: They may have died millions of years ago, but they still rule – literally, in the case of the Milwaukee Public Museum this next month, as the Dino Days of Summer will take over the MPM beginning today.
Running now through Saturday, Aug. 17, the Milwaukee Public Museum will feature dinosaur-themed exhibits, entertainment, games, fossils and more throughout its Downtown space.
Over at the dome theater and planetarium, for instance, two movies – "T.REX" and "Did an Asteroid Really Kill the Dinosaurs" – will show each day with showtimes available throughout one's visit. Elsewhere, each day will feature educational exhibits and games throughout the museum space, such as a fossil recognition challenge, a dino name game, a paleontology exhibit based on famed early geologist Mary Anning and other dinosaur quizzes.
“Our dinosaur exhibits are among visitors’ favorites, so we’re excited to highlight the Museum’s vast collection of prehistoric specimens and wealth of scientific knowledge throughout these four weeks,” said Erin Goff, MPM Education Events & Volunteer Manager in a release. “During Dino Days of Summer, visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to use their creativity and critical thinking skills as they examine real dinosaur fossils, pretend to be a paleontologist and discover new details about how these amazing creatures lived – and went extinct – through fun, engaging programs, activities and events."
In addition to their daily exhibits, edu-tainment and events, the Milwaukee Public Musuem will also host a Family Dino Trivia Night on Thursday, July 25 at 6-8 p.m. Tickets for this Cretaceous era challenge will cost $15 and are available at the MPM's website. And at the other end of the price range is the MPM's monthly Thank You Thursday promo, offering free admission on Thursday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. – including much of the Dino Days of Summer exhibits.
For more information on Dino Days film showing times, specific exhibits and games, and more, visit the Milwaukee Public Museum's website. Check it all out before it goes extinct in August!
And as for the museum overall, the Downtown icon is open every day (except Tuesdays) from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more info, click here.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
