How could a simple "Dinner with Friends" also double as a free, quasi-marriage counseling session? The Chamber Theatre's final production of the 2002-'03 season tells a modern story of love, marriage and friendship. A group of longtime friends find their lives turned upside down when one of the couples within the group decides to divorce.

"It's really about the aftershocks that we all experience when certain contants in our lives, things that we perceive to be constant, suddenly shatter and are no longer dependable," said playwright Donald Margulies in an interview with NPR. "There's humor in [the play] but I think it also touches a nerve, and I think that's one of the reasons why it has had the success it has had."

Newspaper columnist and certified relationship counselor Polly Drew will attend the Fri., May 2 performance as the Chamber Theatre ViewPoints speaker. Following the evening performance, Drew will be on hand to share her relationship wisdom with the audience and take questions from the cast and audience.

Met with overwhelming success since its debut in 1998, a "Dinner with Friends," has garnered awards such as the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The production is slated for performance in the Cabot Theatre, Fri., April 18 through Sun., May 4.

Tickets for the show are $25 and $35, and senior and group discounts are available. The Broadway Theatre Center is located in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward at 158 N. Broadway. For more information, call the box office at (414) 291-7800.
