After postponing its 2020 Summerfest gig in the face of the pandemic, the Dave Matthews Band has announced rescheduled tour dates – including its Big Gig show, now hosted at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Wednesday, Sept. 15, a night the festival is not slated to take place.
Summerfest 2021 is scheduled over three weekends, Sept. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18.
This is not the first time a major Summerfest concert has taken place outside the festival. The Rolling Stones headlined the Amp the night before Summerfest 2016 opened.
Tickets are onsale now and all online purchases – including those made previously for the postponed show or tickets bought in the future – will include a digital ticket valid for any day during Summerfest 2021.
If you bought a ticket for one of the previous dates, return to the purchase location to get your general admission Summerfest 2021 ticket. Refunds will be available from the original point of purchase for 30 days from the announcement of the rescheduled date.
Ticket purchasers should get an email from Ticketmaster further explaining how to get a refund, if they cannot attend the rescheduled date.

Citi cardmembers can access presale tickets through Citi Entertainment beginning Tuesday, April 27, at 10 a.m. through Thursday, April 29, at 10 p.m.
Among its many shows in the area over the years, Dave Matthews Band played Alpine Valley in 2019 as well as previously headlining Summerfest in 2018 and 2014.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
