Get ready to pop some corks, the city's first "champagne lounge" will bubble forth in the Third Ward before long. Cuvee' is getting ready to open on the third floor of the ArtAsia Building at 177 N. Broadway.

According to owner Kimberly Floyd, Cuvee' will specialize in champagne cocktails. (For those not familiar will all things bubbly, Cuvee' itself is a blend of champagne.) Floyd says she hopes to appeal to the 30- and 40-something wine drinkers as well as the wedding crowd. For the newlyweds, it helps that there will be a banquet hall attached to the lounge as well.

"It's upscale, but we want people to be comfortable, too," Floyd told the city's License Committee. The overall feeling, she says, is that "we hope to celebrate."

The Common Council is expected to grant the license March 22. Hours will be from 4 p.m until midnight weeknights and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends. No target date for opening was announced.
