The Counting Crows released their fifth studio album, "Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings," this past March, and kick off their summer tour on July 25 in Virginia Beach.
But before they hit the road they're asking fans to design their tour poster. They're running a contest and the winner will have his or her poster printer and sold on the tour. The Counting Crows play Milwaukee's Marcus Amphitheater on Saturday, Aug. 23.
All designs must be submitted by July 1 and the rules are pretty basic:
1. The poster must be 18"x24" portrait or landscape.
2. The artwork must be at least 300 DPI and be transmitted through the Internet (files must be jpeg or gif and must be less than 10MB in size).
3. Don't be an idiot and use copyrighted graphics.
Email submissions to winner@countingcrows.com. Don't forget to include your name.
OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.
As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
