'Tis the season for old school rap artists to come to Milwaukee, apparently. Coming hot off the heels of R. Kelly and Snoop Dogg last month, Coolio – as first reported by Milwaukee Record – will pop by The Mad Planet to perform at a very special Friday Retro Dance Party on Feb. 24.
The 21-and-over event will open at 9 p.m., with a $15 cover charge at the door. Following his performance, the "Gangsta's Paradise" rap star will host a meet-and-greet with fans, while the party itself rages on until closing time (2:30 a.m.).
Coolio's no stranger to Milwaukee; in fact, last summer, he hit the Wisconsin State Fair main stage as a part of the I Love The '90s Tour, alongside Salt-N-Pepa, Color Me Badd and Rob Base. Unfortunately, he won't be back for the tour's return to State Fair this summer – replaced by Vanilla Ice, Kid 'n Play, Tone Loc and Young MC, and All-4-One – so this surprise Mad Planet visit will have to do.
Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage that, if we're lucky, will feature this essential gem:
The only thing that can top that? Orange soda.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
