Computers get replaced pretty quickly these days. Constant improvements in technology and more affordable options make it all the easier to give up your obsolete hardware and upgrade to this week's "next big thing."

If you're looking to get one last bit of usefulness out of your techno-relic, consider bringing it to IndependenceFirst this Saturday, April 16 for their Earth Week Computer Recycling Drive.

The second annual drive takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in their parking lot at 540 S. 1st St. The program gives you a safe, green way to dispose of your old computer, but it also refurbishes still-usable ones for people with disabilities who couldn't afford to purchase one on their own.

IndependenceFirst has also been approved to safely wipe out personal information, so you can bring your personal or business computers -- hard drive and all -- for safe disposal.

Tax-deductible computer donations to the Recycling Drive must have at least a Pentium IV processor, 1.1 GHz and 512 MB RAM memory, and monitors must be at least 17 inches.

Contrary to her natural state of being, Renee Lorenz is a total optimist when it comes to Milwaukee. Since beginning her career with OnMilwaukee.com, her occasional forays into the awesomeness that is the Brew City have turned into an overwhelming desire to discover anything and everything that's new, fun or just ... "different."

Expect her random musings to cover both the new and "new-to-her" aspects of Miltown goings-on, in addition to periodically straying completely off-topic, which usually manifests itself in the form of an obscure movie reference.
