Another Milwaukee summer staple has unsurprisingly nixed its plans this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as the Bay View Neighborhood Association announced today that Chill on the Hill has officially been canceled for 2020.
The free live music series, hosted at Humboldt Park, was originally scheduled to begin on June 2 and run through Sept. 8. Last month, the event delayed its start date, tenuously setting July 21 as its new opening night.
However, according to a release from the Bay View Neighborhood Association, the organization was given a directive from Milwaukee County Parks officials stating that "it is with public health and safety in mind that Milwaukee County Parks will not be issuing permits or approvals for special events through the end of September due to the current public health situation."
"We had a fantastic season booked for 2020, and we will be offering all of those bands the opportunity to play at Chill on the Hill in 2021," said executive producer Patty Thompson, in the release. "We will be working hard over the summer to help support our local businesses that have sponsored our event for so many years."
So, as with just about any large crowded event these days, see you there next year!

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
