{image1}Local Western swingers The Superchiefs have called it quits, the band announced in an e-mail to fans Wednesday morning.

"You heard it here first ... The Superchiefs (as we know it) are dead," the e-mail said. "Loren (Tilley) has landed a gig in Honolulu's leading ukelele band playing four-star Ramadas and Holiday Inns and will be leaving the Midwest in a month."

The band has three remaining gigs on the books, which will be honored: Friday, March 4 and Friday, March 18 at Onopa, at 6 p.m. and Friday March 11, at Circle A, from 8 until 10 p.m.
