Milwaukee moved a bit closer to being just 90 miles from the 2016 Olympics as Chicago beat out Los Angeles to become the United States candidate city for the 2016 Games.
Chicago now moves into the international phase of the competition, which begins officially Sept. 15, when candidates must submit bids to the International Olympic Committee. The IOC will select the 2016 host in October 2009.
When you add up Milwaukee and Chicago, the cities become one of the 10th largest "mega-cities" in the world. Milwaukee is sure to benefit from a 2016 Games in the Windy City. Congrats to Chicago. Milwaukee is pulling for you!
