GOLD COAST CLOSING
Gold Coast Subs, 2040 E. North Ave., has lost its lease and is shutting its doors by early August.
MO'S IRISH PUB TO OPEN BY IRISH FEST
Johnny V. hopes to have his new Mo's Irish Pub open in time for Irish Fest on August 12. Walk by the new site at Wisconsin and Plankinton Avenues and check out the huge OMC article reprint in the window.
NEW COAST COMING
Coast, a new Zilli Family Restaurant, opens its doors at 931 E. Wisconsin Ave. (O' Donnell Park and the site of a few other failed joints) on July 30 with a VIP-only event.
POTBELLY COMING
We hear that it's official, downtown is getting a PotBelly Sandwich Works. With several locations in Chicagoland and one on State Street in Madison, they will be a welcome addition to The Shops of Grand Avenue. Great subs, shakes, ice cream, live music and more.
HIGH ON THE HOG
Harley-Davidson Inc., on July 16, said its quarterly earnings increased 40 percent, outstripping analysts' expectations. Harley-Davidson also raised its 2003 production target by 600 units to 290,600 after exceeding its second-quarter shipment target. Harley said it sold more motorcycles in the United States in the second quarter than at any other time in its 100-year history.

Be sure to check out the cool new exhibit "Harley at the Pabst" at the Pabst Mansion. It features a 1912 Harley Indian bike.

Watch for a new Greek restaurant to open on Milwaukee Street next to London Dry Cleaners by fall.
CONTINUED CAJUN CRAZE COMING
There's yet another new restaurant in town and this one is name after another city, New Orleans. Obviously it's Cajun style food. Experience it at 639 W. Layton Ave. Owner is Steve Smirl.
CALDERONE TAPPIN' AUGSBURGER
The Stevens Point Brewery in Wisconsin has revived the Augsburger beer brand. The brewery purchased the rights to brew and sell the Augsburger from Pabst. Augsburger Golden and Augsburger Dark beers hit store shelves this week. The German-style lagers -- brewed to original German-style lager recipes -- will cost more than the traditional Point brands, said to Stevens Point brewer John Zappa. Get to the Calderone Club downtown for a cold Auggie on tap.
OLD NAVY TO DOWNTOWN
We hear that Old Navy is still looking for the right downtown location. Cheap khakis for everyone!
FORMER LUCAS' ON STATE BEING REBORN
Several downtown business people have purchased the former Lucas' on State and are revamping it into another pub and grill.
LELA COMING TO THE THIRD WARD
LeLa, a new, stylish women's boutique (co-owned by the author's wife Stephanie Sherman), is coming to the Historic Third Ward in the fall. Watch the pages of OMC for more.
BEAUTY TOO
Beauty is opening another location on Broadway between St. Paul and Chicago in the Third Ward. Watch for it next year.
WALK THE DOG
There's a lease about to be signed for a new off-leash dog park located in a large, northeast county park.
TOSA BOY BACK ON TUBE
Wauwatosa native, Brad Rowe, is back on television in a new ABC Family network movie called "Lucky Seven." It co-stars Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Patrick Dempsey. Watch for the romantic comedy on July 20.
NEWS TO YOU
WISN 12 is launching weekend morning news on August 2 that will air from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
FILM FEST COMING
The Milwaukee International Film Festival, the city's first event of its kind, will take place November 6-16. The festival is now announcing its call for entries internationally, with a final deadline of August 4. Entry forms are available at www.milwaukeefilmfest.org Until now, Milwaukee has been one of the few large U.S. cities without a broadly based international film festival. Working with civic, community and cultural leaders, the Shepherd Express is organizing the event. OMC will be a promotional partner.
PANTHERS TO DOWNTOWN
The UWM Panthers are eyeing the U.S. Cellular Arena for more home men's basketball games next season.
WHEN YOU COME TO A FORK IN THE ROAD, TAKE IT
Twisted Fork, the new Roaring Fork Restaurant Group creation owned by Mike Pranke and Eric Wagner, at the site of the old Oriental Pharmacy, has hung its sign. See the big fork on the corner of Farwell and North.
STONE CREEK OPEN IN BAY VIEW
Stone Creek Coffee has opened its newest location at the intersection of Kinnickinnic and Lincoln in Bay View. Like all Stone Creek Coffee locations, the cafe serves espresso, coffee, teas and fresh bakery. Stone Creek specialties are featured, including OMC favorites like the Cream City Ice, Cream City MintMocha, Cream City Caramel, Boston Latte and Caramella.
A life-long and passionate community leader and Milwaukeean, Jeff Sherman is a co-founder of OnMilwaukee.
He grew up in Wauwatosa and graduated from Marquette University, as a Warrior. He holds an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University, and is the founding president of Young Professionals of Milwaukee (YPM)/Fuel Milwaukee.
Early in his career, Sherman was one of youngest members of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, and currently is involved in numerous civic and community groups - including board positions at The Wisconsin Center District, Wisconsin Club and Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. He's honored to have been named to The Business Journal's "30 under 30" and Milwaukee Magazine's "35 under 35" lists.
He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.
