What do beer, stockings and air purifiers have in common? Usually nothing, but here they are all products we've tried since the beginning of 2020 that get our seal of approval. Enjoy this random selection of items that we recommend.
Snag tights
When I first received these tights that claim not to roll up at the waist I was extremely skeptical. I thought the rolling up of tights was just part of the wearing-tights-all-day experience. I was, however, impressed that they had such a wide range of sizes, from 2 to 36, and that their models looked like real women. So I gave them a whirl and wore them during one of my Channel 12 Friday segments. Turns out, they are, indeed, extremely comfortable tights (I admit that bar is low, I really only buy tights at big box stores) and they did not roll at the waist. Now I just need more skirts and dresses to wear with these awesome stockings. - Molly Snyder
Captain Pabst's Seabird IPA
The first in a planned series of new "craft-style" brews from Pabst – all branded under the Captain Pabst imprint and all likely to be named for the Goodrich line vessels he captained – Seabird IPA is brewed with Magnum, Citra, Cascade and Mosaic hops, giving it a gently lipsmacking hop fruitiness – and 45 IBU – that is quite refreshing and tasty. It's got a mere 4.5 percent ABV, so it's pretty sessionable, too. This is a nice kickoff to a new series and I'm eager to see what's coming next. –Bobby Tanzilo
Germ Guardian Pluggable Air Purifier
I have two cats and one dog, which means no matter how clean my house is, it always smells a little like a zoo. Traditional air purifiers might work well, but inevitably I forget to change the filters. So I bought a few of these: the Germ Guardian plugs into a wall and uses UV-C light (or some other magic) to clear the air. Best of all, no filters. Just a lightbulb that lasts about a year. Does my house smell like a summer breeze? Well, maybe not, but with these strategically placed around my home, it smells less like dog and cat. –Andy Tarnoff
