Bronzeville Week, an official City of Milwaukee event now in its 11th year, runs this week with a variety of events targeting wellness, arts, business and culture. The events are offered virtually and in-person.

Monday, Aug. 8 includes "A Conversation on Arts, Culture & Community" at America’s Black Holocaust Museum, 401 W. North Ave., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The celebration continues on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the Bronzeville Center for the Arts, 2300 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr., with a community mural project sponsored by Milwaukee Art Museum: Kohl’s Art Studio. This family-friendly art experience will take place from 10 a.m. to noon.

From noon to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Danette Justus will host "Just Us and Books" virtually for families. Go here for more.

The day concludes with "Rooted in Culture" at Maranta Plant Shop, 1739 N. Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. from 5:30 p.m to 7 p.m.

Food for Thought, a fresh new poetry experience with guest hosts Trunk and Gideon, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Q Restaurant, 2730 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, the Bronzeville Business Breakfast takes place at Dead Bird Brewing Company, 1726 N. 5th St. The hybrid event will include updates on district developments and initiatives in addition to honoring the members of Historic King Drive BID #8. Those attending in person must register in advance here.

Two more events start at noon on Wednesday. The first is a conversation with Milwaukee’s Jacob Latimore that's scheduled for America’s Black Holocaust Museum, 401 W. North Ave. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. The event will also be live streamed at facebook.com/BronzevilleWeek

The second Wednesday-at-noon event is Cool-Aid & Canvases, a family-friendly engaging art experience, at the King Library, 310 W. Locust St.

Wednesday concludes with "Sound Judgment – HYFIN Edition" listening session. The event is presented by HYFIN and co-hosted by HYFIN Advisory Board members Genyne Edwards and James Phelps. The listening session runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at 1916 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Pre-registration is required.
