Beginning today, Brewers fans can now show their team loyalty on their bumpers.
The Department of Transportation and the Brewers are now offering license plates featuring the team's logo.
Fans can choose between a navy blue plate featuring the current "M" logo or a royal blue plate featuring the "ball and glove" logo. The plates also feature the word "Wisconsin" in either gold or yellow, respectively, as well as "Milwaukee Brewers" at the bottom in a typeface coordinated with the plate's color scheme.
The Brewers join the Green Bay Packers, University of Wisconsin and UW system schools and, most recently, Marquette University, in having their own plates.
"In recent years, we have had numerous inquiries from fans about creating a Brewers-themed license plate and we're pleased to be able to make this a reality," said Brewers Executive Vice President -- Business Operations Rick Schlesinger.
In addition to regular vehicle registration fees, fans will have to pay an additional $15 issuance fee and an annual $25, tax-deductible contribution. Fans wanting personalized plates will have to pay an additional $15.
Revenue generated from the plates will be used initially by the DOT to recover implementation costs. After that, the money will be turned over to the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District, which -- minus a two percent licensing fee to Major League Baseball -- will use the revenue to retire the Miller Park construction debt.
Applications for Brewers plates can be submitted by mail or in person at DOT offices offering registration services. More information is available online at the DOT Web site.
