It's the desert of the sports calendar, but at least we've got first-place Brewers baseball ... if you know where to find it. Yes, if you're looking for today's noon spat between Milwaukee and their old AL rivals, the Minnesota Twins, you'll have to turn to YouTube.
As is now a regular midseason tradition, the game is a part of YouTube's MLB Game of the Week live schedule, taking the broadcasts from their usual Bally Sports TV home and streaming them instead for free on YouTube. The situation has become a common occurance during the season as professional sports leagues make their way into the streaming world; in fact, the Brewers were already one of the Games of the Week earlier this spring when their May 11 matinee against the Cincinnati Reds broadcast on YouTube.
YouTube's far from the only streaming service getting involved, too. The Crew's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates last Friday was exclusively broadcast on Apple TV+, with another game – against the Reds on Friday, Aug. 5 – set for the streamer later in the year.
Like everything with the new modern streaming landscape, it may all sound complicated, crowded and convoluted – but it's actually quite easy to find and stream the game. All you have to do is head over to YouTube – either the MLB's page or the Brewers' page – on your laptop, tablet, smart TV device or phone around noon, and click on the video link for today's game. (For some bonus help, it's embedded right below this very paragraph!) And as before, you don't have to be a YouTube TV subscriber – or even have a YouTube account.
Plus, according to a release, the YouTube telecasts now come complete with multiple audio broadcasts – so there's a good chance you'll be able to watch the game complete with the hometown call.
Now that you know where to find the game, let's go Brewers and take this twin-spin from the Twins this afternoon!
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
