What better way to cap off a special 2021 season – and lead into a hopefully special postseason – than to honor the man who has captured the sound and heart of the Milwaukee Brewers since 1971?
The Brewers will honor "Mr. Baseball" himself, Bob Uecker, on Saturday, Sept. 25 prior to a 6:10 p.m. battle against the New York Mets at American Family Field.
The celebration of the voice of the Brewers for the past 50 years will feature a tribute video and a ceremonial first pitch before the game begins. Throughout the game, special messages will appear on the video board from Uecker's friends, and American Family Field will feature decor that honors the Hall of Fame broadcaster.
To make things even more nostalgic for fans and Uecker alike, his ceremonial first pitch will be caught by none other than the Brewers legend Robin Yount.
The Uecker-themed fun doesn't stop there, as fans at the Saturday night matchup who purchase a WWE Night ticket package will also receive a limited-edition WWE Bob Uecker bobblehead – a nod to his appearances on Wrestlemania III and Wrestlemania IV, which earned him a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010.
At the following game on Sunday, Sept. 26, the Brewers will give out Bob Uecker talking bobbleheads to the first 35,000 ticketed fans at the ballpark. Featuring highlights of some of the announcer's most iconic calls, this is sure to be one of the best and most sentimental bobbleheads a Brew Crew fan can have.
In case that wasn't enough, the Brewers will really put the cherry on top of this treat of a season by also honoring recent Brewers favorites Carlos Gomez, Yovani Gallardo and Francisco Rodriguez throughout the weekend series – the final home games of the regular season. The three former all-stars will be inducted into the Brewers Wall of Honor, though more details on the team's exact plans will be announced later.
