Bounce Milwaukee, a bar, restaurant and recreational facility in Bay View, will close temporarily starting Sunday evening until COVID-19 is under control.
Co-owner Becky Cooper Clancy says Bounce has not had a single case reported, but feels it is in the best interest of their employees and the community to cease service.
"There’s a sense of impending doom, wondering when it’s going to impact you. We decided it made more sense to keep our employees safe and shut down in a controlled manner rather than in chaos with people getting sick, and to do it while there’s still a financial possibility of reopening on the other side," says Clancy.
Thus, Sunday, Aug. 2 will be Bounce's last day of operation for a while and 100 percent of all food sales will go directly to the six remaining employees. The full menu will be available for pick-up or delivery.
"They’ll get 100 percent from sales on Sunday, plus two weeks severance, in addition to their regular pay," says Clancy. "We’ll be donating any remaining ingredients either to Ayuda Mutua or we’ll make the remaining ingredients into ready-to-serve-food and take it to protests on Monday."
The menu includes a variety of pizzas like the Loaded Tot (in the photo above) and The Milverine topped with sausage, pepperoni, bacon and chicken breast. Bounce also offers salads, quesadillas, specialty tots and more.

"We need a cohesive state and federal response so other businesses and employees can prioritize health. We don’t know if our decision makes an impact in that, but at least we aren’t contributing to the problem," says Clancy.
