The new coach of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets has a Milwaukee connection.
Gary Agnew, who replaced Gerard Gallant, played for the Admirals in 1982-'83, helping the team to the Turner Cup finals in the International Hockey League.
Agnew scored 59 points (28 gaols, 31 assists) during the regular season for a Milwaukee team that lost the championship series to Toledo, 4-2. The Goaldiggers were led by Claude Noel, who is now hte Admirals' coach.
Agnew, 46, spent six years as coach of the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League, before joining Gallant's staff this season.
