The Bike-In Movie series has been cancelled, according to the organizer of the event.

This afternoon we received an email from the series' Jake Newborn informing us that the bike-in movie series has been cancelled "for now" and that "we are working hard on the back end to fix it and bring it back."  He declined to elaborate further.

OnMilwaukee.com was a sponsor of the series. The first event was scheduled for June 19.

Updated June 18, 2015: The first Bike-In Movie is "good to go" according to organizer Jake Newborn. However, according to a post on Facebook, future showings are still in question due to "licensing issues."

Updated June 23, 2015: The next movie has been successfully scheduled for July 17 at 8:00PM. Wes Anderson's "Grand Budapest Hotel."

Originally started by the Wisconsin Bike Fed in 2007 as a way to celebrate cycling in movies, but the series has since divorced from the Bike Fed and is now run by community volunteers. It has also mostly all but abandoned bicycle-specific themes as the selections started to run a bit tangentially thin.

In more recent years, the Bike-In Movie series has been geared towards anybody who likes cult classics. Plus, the covering of rubber, instead of stones, on the grounds has marked a tremendous increase in comfort. All-in-all, a more enjoyable and inclusive experience for everyone.

Bikes. Movies. Swings. Summer. It's the perfect combination for a relaxed Friday night out. OnMilwaukee.com is proud to be a part of it.

The event is sponsored by Breakaway Bicycle Couriers, Trocadero, Red Lion Pub On Tannery Row, Roman Coin, Fyxation, City of Milwaukee, Brady St BID, OnMilwaukee.com, Ray's Indoor Bike Park, Buttor Manor and Milwaukee Bicycle Polo LLC.
