The Milwaukee Bike-In Movie series is back with a solid slate of films for the 2022 season. The event is organized by the Wisconsin Bike Fed, an advocacy group that promotes crucial infrastructure and safe outdoor recreation for people who bike and pedestrians alike.
The Bike-In Movie series is primarily held at 8 p.m. in the Swing Park under the Holton Street Viaduct where Water Street turns into Brady Street – a conveniently covered location to allow the event to happen rain or shine. For the first night, however, the series will take place at Harbor View Plaza, screening Pixar's "Luca" as part of Wisconsin Bike Week.
The rest of the series includes a good mix of sport, romance, wimsy and weirdness, particularly including a bizarro favorite of mine, Mars Attacks!, in which Tim Burton unexpectedly undermines a heap of 90s action/invasion tropes and allows aliens to ruin the world for laughs.
To fund this year's series, the Bike Fed was able to obtain a grant through the Brady Street BID and a partnership with Casablanca and RiverHouse Apartments. OnMilwaukee is proud to be a media partner of the Bike-In Movie as well.
Some of the funds will also be used to fund the efforts of Pedal Revolution, an organization that brings together younger women and queer-oriented bicyclists.

Jason McDowell grew up in central Iowa and moved to Milwaukee in 2000 to attend the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
In 2006 he began working with OnMilwaukee as an advertising designer, but has since taken on a variety of rolls as the Creative Director, tackling all kinds of design problems, from digital to print, advertising to branding, icons to programming.
In 2016 he picked up the 414 Digital Star of the Year award.
Most other times he can be found racing bicycles, playing board games, or petting dogs.
