For the eighth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Locavore, the newest restaurant at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2014."
The votes are in and OnMilwaukee.com readers have determined that the best small plates in the city are crafted and served at La Merenda.
Located at 125 E. National Ave. in Walker’s Point, the restaurant is best known for its delectable tapas, otherwise known as Spanish small plates as well as the drinks.
The menu at La Merenda incorporates a fusion of local and seasonal items into regional and international dishes, which means that the menu rotates every few months depending on what’s fresh or in season.
The menu itself includes everything from ceviche, which is a seafood dish containing citrus-infused scallops; mushroom soft tacos; empanadas, which are savory pastries filled with your choice of grass-fed beef or seasonal vegetables; to a duck and pheasant sausage dish.
The restaurant edged out Odd Duck, another Milwaukee favorite, by fewer than 300 votes.
