Come here often?
What's your sign?
Can I buy you a drink?
Your place or mine?
You must be tired, because you've been running through my mind all day.
Can I borrow a quarter? I want to call my mom and tell her I just met the man / woman of my dreams?
I like that outfit. Bet it would look great on the floor next to the bed.
What do you want for breakfast?
Yes, these are some of the cheesiest pickup lines ever uttered in public. And yes, we can be reasonably certain that all of them have been uttered at Victor's, 1230 N. Van Buren St.
Some people see it as a gathering spot, a meeting place, an underrated restaurant and an indispensable part of nightlife.
Others see it as kind of museum for the way clubs were "back in the day."
Some go to enjoy the music, a mix of hip-hop, house, bubble-gum pop and old-school Top 40. Others go to make fun of the music.
Some people go there to be seen, which is convenient, because others go there to people-watch. Some go to hook up. Others, who call the bar "Victim's," go to laugh at people trying to hook up.
Bottom line: people still go to Victor's, just as they have for nearly 50 years, and OnMilwaukee.com readers still consider it a great place to meet Mr. or Mrs. "Right for Tonight."
