There are great places to eat and great places to drink in Milwaukee. Every now and again you find a place that's perfect for both. According to OnMilwaukee.com readers, the Milwaukee Ale House has the best bar among local restaurants.

That's quite an impressive win for any restaurant considering the competition. Other top vote getters included Water Buffalo, Cafe Centraal, Mo's Irish Pub, Lulu, Palomino and Elsa's.

Mixing a lively atmosphere, a great patio (in season), an impressive slate of brewed-on-site beers and a full dining menu -- as well as live music -- the Milwaukee Ale House was a trailblazer in the Third Ward dining and nightlife scene, helping pave the way for the neighborhood to become the entertainment destination that it is today.

Of course, the OnMilwaukee.com editorial staff also enjoys the Ale House -- site of our annual Bartender Olympics (which take place this year on Feb. 25) -- but wanted to also recognize its fine neighbor to the north, Water Buffalo.
