Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2011. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.

For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."

In past years, this category was dominated by frozen custard stands, but in recent years, Milwaukee has seen an explosion of new offerings like frozen yogurt, gelato and specialty ice cream shops.

The newcomers are good and have developed some pretty loyal followings but custard is still king in this town – at least in this poll, anyway – and the expanded field of challengers was no problem for Kopp's, which ran away with the title in 2011.

That shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody, really. Kopp's is truly a Milwaukee institution.

What started as a single stand more than 60 years ago has grown to three area locations, scooping up creamy goodness for two generations. Stop in for a scoop of the flavor of the while Milwaukee transplants can order their favorite flavors online.

It was a runaway victory, but a popular category and here at OnMilwaukee.com, we agree with the voters. Kopp's is our editors' choice.
