Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, of course. And, if you're still looking for love, you might take heart in this bit of news that we got from Kiplinger today.
Milwaukee, Kiplinger reports, is "one of the best cities for singles."
The publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice "scanned the country for the dating scenes that are as financially attractive as they are socially satisfying, rounding up the best cities for singles."
It focused on metropolitan areas with populations over 125,000 with a high percentage of singles and household incomes typically above the national median, residents are highly educated, and the cost of living ensures that "paychecks are plump enough to cover dating expenses."
According to this data, the best cities for singles are:
- Santa Barbara, Calif.
- Ann Arbor, Mich.
- Iowa City, Iowa
- Columbus, Ohio
- Austin, Texas
- Baltimore, Md.
- Boulder, Colo.
- Trenton, N.J.
- San Francisco, Calif.
And, here's what they said about Milwaukee at No. 10.
"Come for the jobs, stay for the happy hours. The largest city in Wisconsin has plenty of career opportunities to offer, with major employers including two big universities and six Fortune 500 companies. And after work, bar-hopping bachelor(ette)s will fall in love with the social scene."
