For the seventh straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2013."
"Food Wars" may have picked AJ Bombers over Sobleman's, but the readers of OnMilwaukee.com handed Sobleman's a runaway victory again – by a 22 percent margin – for Milwaukee's best burger.
Sobleman's won last year, too, by a 27 percent margin. This year’s top five finishers are an exact replica of last year’s results.
What makes our readers like Sobleman's so much? Is it the delicious bun on which the burger is served? Is it the funky, former Schlitz tavern location on St. Paul that inspires Marquette students to visit? Or is it the fresh, not frozen, Black Angus beef? Maybe it's a little of each.
Even though Sobleman's East Side location closed this year – leaving two near the Marquette campus – their big burgers continue to delight.
For our editors' pick, we chose Oscar's, 1712 W. Pierce St. His Big "O" burger is nothing short of a masterpiece.
