Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2011. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."
When we polled readers last year Blue's Egg had only recently arrived on the scene. So, its fifth-place finish – behind winner Original Pancake House – was impressive enough.
This year, Blue's Egg shot to the head of the pack, winning nearly twice as many votes as last year's winner, which, this year, came in second.
In a recent article about our favorite Milwaukee breakfasts, OnMilwaukee.com's Bobby Tanzilo raved about Blue's Egg:
"Like many, I'm a breakfast fiend, so there are all kinds of places that can satisfy my yen for omelets, French toast, pancakes and waffles. But if I want something great, hardy, tasty and interesting – something a step above – I head to Blue's Egg, where the choices are a mix of traditional and unusual (the polenta is awesome and so is the shrimp, scallop and calamari scramble). Just prepare to wait a bit on the weekends because Blue's Egg's brilliance is no secret."
