It's time for Dining Month, presented by Deer District and its spooky Halloween-themed alter ego, Fear District. Throughout the month of October, we'll be serving up fun and fascinating content about all things food. The signature dish, however, is our 2019 Best of Dining poll, who's winners we will dish out all month long. Get hungry, Milwaukee!
Culver's
Somehow, the chain most associated with Wisconsin didn't even make last years rankings – but have no fear, that error has been rectified this year. Culver's took the top spot from last years winner, Chick-fil-A, and gained 25 percent of the overall votes in the category. Maybe it's because Culver's is open on Sundays.
While Culver's is a national chain, it has its roots and identity based in Wisconsin. The first restaurant opened in Sauk City in 1984, and now there are more than 700 locations in 25 states.
When you're looking for crinkle-cut fries, cheese curds, butter burgers, cheese curds, chicken tenders, cheese curds or did I mention cheese curds, Culver's is the place to be. That's the food side, but of course, we would be remiss if we failed to mention the custard. With vanilla, chocolate and a flavor of the day, it's the perfect sweet treat to pair with a tasty meal.
