No, we’re not talking about the world’s most popular beer (called Snow), we’re talking about beer made from snow. Or wait, is it snow made from beer?
Water is one of the basic ingredients in beer, so it’s a given that you can brew beer with snow, right? Especially since you heat the water anyway, which would turn the snow into, wait for it ... water.
This has been done before, like at this Colorado brewery.
But now, YouTube inventors Sparky and Skeeter have done the reverse in the first video for their new channel. They’ve used their snow-making cannon to make snow out of beer.
The theory is much the same as we’ve seen in the many videos of folks hurling pots of boiling water into the air and watching it freeze.
But using beer? This, they believe, has never been done before.
You can watch it all happen in their Making It Snow With Beer in a Polar Vortex video, which is due out in the next few weeks.
At the moment, there’s a preview video online, in which you can see an accelerated version of the process at their Lake Geneva special effects workshop test site.
It begins with pouring bottles of Leinie’s Snowdrift Vanilla Porter (of course) into a pot and using it to boil up some Johnsonville beef brats (why waste a good opportunity, right?).
Then they pour the liquid into the cannon and bam!
Brown snow, which in this case, you’d be forgiven for eating.
“We tried to catch the flakes in beer steins,” says team member Dieter Sturm. “A lot evaporated in the sub zero temps!”
When life gives you a polar vortex, you make beer snow, right?

With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
