If you’re stoked about Avli’s forthcoming Milwaukee restaurant, which will bring contemporary regional Greek fare to the Brewers Hill neighborhood later this summer, then you’ll want to check out this fun collaborative pop-up between Avli and Pilot Project.
The Avli Mezze Pop-Up will take place Thursday, June 22 through Saturday, June 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. at at Pilot Project, 1128 N 9th St. During the pop-up, a menu of four Greek mezze (small plates) from Avli, plus suggested beer pairings from Pilot Project, will be available for purchase.
The Menu
- Avli’s signature Kataifi Prawns wrapped with shredded phyllo and served with spicy aioli (pescatarian, dairy-free). Pairings: Low Slope by Brewers Kitchen OR Passionfruit Citrus by ROVM Hard Kombucha
- Mini Zucchini Fritters with herbs, feta cheese, and yogurt (vegetarian). Pairings: Timepass by Azadi Brewing OR Doosra by Azadi Brewing
- Pork Tigania with peppers, honey, white wine, and lemon juice (gluten-free, dairy-free). Pairings: Two Branches by Brewers Kitchen OR Hip Hops & R&Brew by Funkytown Brewery
- Mini Chicken Gyro on pita bread with tomato, red onions, and tzatziki. Pairings: Blossom Tonic by Flora Brewing OR Courtesy of Copenhagen by Brewers Kitchen

Her passion for the culinary industry was birthed while balancing A&W root beer mugs as a teenage carhop, fed by insatiable curiosity and fueled by the people whose stories entwine with every dish. Lori is the author of two books: the "Wisconsin Field to Fork" cookbook and "Milwaukee Food". Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club. In 2024, Lori was honored with a "Top 20 Women in Hospitality to Watch" award by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or planning for TV and radio spots, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
