Sabrina Price's bright, vivid paintings focus on community, solidarity and the "new normal" since stay-at-home orders due to the pandemic. These days, she is trying to live in the moment, and in doing so, finding her artistic inspiration.

"I’m enlivened by a number of subjects including landscapes from urban to rural to post-industrial, the built environment, everyday human experiences and contemporary social interactions," says Price.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Price has spent more time than ever in her studio because her day job as a paraprofessional for K4 Milwaukee Public School students is much less demanding than usual. Although she enjoys the extra creative time, she also misses her students.

"No matter what mood I was in, knowing I would see the kids' smiling faces would lift my spirits," says Price, a lifelong Milwaukeean and graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's arts education program.

Thus, Price has turned her passion for her students and education toward her art and finds it healing for herself – and hopefully others.

"I hope my paintings can bring some solace, perspective and resolve as we navigate this uncertain path together," says Price.
