For the third year, 64 artists from across the country will come together to compete for a $20,000 prize.

Discover Wauwatosa announced today that ART 64, presented by North Shore Bank, will take place on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 in The Village of Wauwatosa.

During the competition, members of the public are invited to watch the painters create their masterpieces and vote for their favorite paintings online.  There will be three rounds of elimination with the final 16 artists competing for a $20,000 grand prize.

The event also includes family-friendly activities, live music, food and drinks, and shopping from local small businesses.

The application is open to artists from across the country. All 64 competing artists receive a minimum of $100, with prize money increasing each round.

Last year, Onalaska-based artist and teacher Lori Ehlke was the big winner.

"As an artist, I loved the interaction with the public and being able to be part of such a well organized and fun event,” says Ehlke.

“This incredible event which draws people from all over is fast becoming one of Wauwatosa's treasured annual outings,” said Mike Williams, community engagement manager for sponsor North Shore Bank.

The 2023 ART64 event saw over 8,000 visitors in The Village of Wauwatosa, thousands of votes cast for artists and over 100 tournament paintings sold.

“We encourage everyone to come out and experience live art and the many fun activities available for attendees of all ages during ART64," says Williams.

The deadline for artists to apply is March 1, 2024. There is no fee to apply. A jury of artists and Discover Wauwatosa staff will determine the 64 artists who will compete. Accepted artists will be notified on March 22, 2024. For more information and to view the application, visit: Art64Tosa.com.
