I think Haz Solo and Dana Coppafeel are battling for the crown of "Most Un-Lazy Milwaukee Hip-Hop Artist."
Today marks the launch of another release by producer/emcee/photographer/videographer/beard groomer Haz Solo.
"For A Reigny Day" is a new collection of beats that Haz says "was produced during a rainy week in Milwaukee."
One thing that you cannot confuse about Haz's instrumental work is that it's truly instrumental work and NOT for rappers to gaffle for a quick mixtape verse.
He takes left turns around corners that lead to what seem like dead ends, only for him to walk up the wall similar to that reality-bending dream scene in the film "Inception."
Haz is a different kind of personality, and his music fits it quite well.
Fantastic Milwaukee-based music blog Seizure Chicken long ago dubbed Haz's co-conspirator Dylan Thomas "Milwaukee's Dilla," so it's only right that Haz is given the nod that he deserves as being Milwaukee's Madlib.
You can hear the new instrumental project via Haz's Bandcamp page here.
Born in Milwaukee and raised in the Milwaukee suburb of Brown Deer, Concordia University Wisconsin alumnus Poppe has spent the majority of his life in or around the city and county of Milwaukee.
As an advocate of Milwaukee's hip-hop community Poppe began popular local music blog Milwaukee UP in March 2010. Check out the archived entries here.
Though heavy on the hip-hop, Poppe writes about other genres of music and occasionally about food, culture or sports, and is always ready to show his pride in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
