Earlier this week I wrote about a new music video from M.A.S.K., a group that consists of Digital Underground's Money B and Milwaukee's Scott Knoxx.
Well today I'm here to tell you about Scott Knoxx's latest mixtape, "Mary Jane Monologues."
As you can tell by the name of the mixtape, there is a fair amount of homage paid to a certain aromatic plant to be found on the tape.
With lots of cut-ins by V100 DJs Nalege and DJ Hot Sauce and tons of features and production from Milwaukee artists, the mixtape plays out like a real mixtape – think Funkmaster Flex's mixtapes back in the '90s.
Though Knoxx has recently moved to California, his Milwaukee roots are strong and he takes pride in them so here is his "Mary Jane Monologues."
Born in Milwaukee and raised in the Milwaukee suburb of Brown Deer, Concordia University Wisconsin alumnus Poppe has spent the majority of his life in or around the city and county of Milwaukee.
As an advocate of Milwaukee's hip-hop community Poppe began popular local music blog Milwaukee UP in March 2010. Check out the archived entries here.
Though heavy on the hip-hop, Poppe writes about other genres of music and occasionally about food, culture or sports, and is always ready to show his pride in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
