It's been nearly nine years since Lazy Susan opened its doors in Bay View. And – over the course of those years – the restaurant would become known, not only for its food and atmosphere, but its accommodations for a wide swath of diners, including vegan and gluten-free patrons.

Despite its success, Chef AJ Dixon has made the decision to close the doors at Lazy Susan after service on Saturday, April 8, 2023.  That gives diners just over a month to pay another visit or two to the restaurant, which offers and eclectic menu of offerings from wild game to inventive vegetable dishes. They also offer a well-priced dinner for two for $60 every Wednesday. Reservations are required and menus change weekly. Check out the current offerings here.

Currently, you'll find warming dishes like bacon fat laced duck leg stew with carrots celery, onion, and herb dumplings; and comfort foods like a grilled and smoked pork chop served alongside root vegetable hash, braised red cabbage and hickory glaze made with whole grain mustard. More casual offerings include their weekly "Bob's Burger," an ever-changing burger inspired by the iconic television show.

But you don't need to love meat to find a fantastic dish at Lazy Susan. Vegetarian offerings include marinated grilled king trumpet mushrooms offered up with green beans, mashed potatoes and red wine stew with pearl onions, cremini mushrooms and herb de provence. There's also spaghetti squash tossed with sage browned butter, dried fruit, nuts, pancetta, arugula and a hint of orange.

You can also make reservations for Lazy Susan's Friday night fish fry, which is dine-in only (no carry-out). The gluten-free fry features battered cod, housemade tartar sauce, potato pancakes and winter slaw.

Please note: It pains me to say it, but Lazy Susan's final Korean fried chicken offering (March 26) is already sold out. Fortunately, it was among a cadre of shining stars at the restaurant. 

Due to current demand, reservations are recommended. Please remember: making a reservation is a commitment that the restaurant counts on and plans for. If you cannot make it at your reserved time, please show respect to the restaurant by notifying them as soon as possible.
