It's Monday. It's grey. We're all hungover from celebrating the Packers win too hard. In other words, perfect conditions for a movie (or three). And conveniently enough, there's a film festival going on right now across the city that's ringing in its fifth day today!
That's right: It's Day 5 of the Milwaukee Film Festival, and if you're struggling with a case of the Mondays, this cinema explosion has something for you. And if you're intimidated by the 29 movies and two parties spread across eight locations, well, I've narrowed it all down to three films to see – from a horror story about filming a horror movie to a iconic movie legend's final film and a handful of flicks from talented creators right here in Brew City.
Let's roll film on those picks:
- "Varda By Agnes" will screen at 5:45 p.m. at the Oriental Theatre
- "The Milwaukee Show" will screen at 7:30 p.m. at the Oriental Theatre
- "Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street" will screen at 9 p.m. at the Oriental Theatre

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
