Milwaukee Film announced the dates for the 2014 rendition of the Milwaukee Film Festival today. The two-week film extravaganza will run from Sept. 25 though Oct. 9, sticking with the last week of September/first week of October theme that has been working well over the past several years.
The fifth annual Milwaukee Film Festival this past year gathered 241 films, ranging from 44 countries and countless genres (drama, comedy, documentary, whatever "Post Tenebras Lux" was, etc.). It also saw yet another increase in attendance, from 50,160 people in 2012 to 55,194.
"War Witch" and "12 O'Clock Boys" won the festival's jury awards this year, while "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" from director and Milwaukee native George Tillman won the audience award. The 2013 festival also showed the Milwaukee premiere of Oscar hopeful "August: Osage County," which is finally opening wide in the city this Friday.
